Second heat conditioned by the ice: nine of them leave the scene, among them the Swiss Nef. The Azzurri Sala and Canins on points
The second round of the Madonna di Campiglio slalom is a direct elimination race, in the literal sense: on the ice (skiing at -15°) of the slope designed by the Austrian coach Robert Fuess, the challenge is to remain standing and a third of the qualifiers do not finish the race. Conditions that upset the ranking of the first heat and rewarded Clement Noel (1’43″05, first victory for him in the Cup this year) and Paco Rassat at 37/100, a French pair who played on the attack but remained on track. Rassat, after the comeback victory in Gurgl, almost did an encore, climbing thirteen positions which earned him third place. Noel managed the advantage over his teammate with caution and also finished ahead of the Finn Hallberg (at 12/100) who loses a lot in the second and last sector, thus losing first place in the first heat. Of the top ten, the exit of Tanguy Nef stands out, the Swiss second in the first heat, and the Bulgarian Popov, seventh.

In light of these performances, Tommaso Sala and Matteo Canins can smile, the only two Italians left in the race after the exit of Vinatzer and Saccardi and the failure of Barbera (37th) and Kastlunger (39th) to qualify. They both managed to finish the race and also recovered five positions to finish 19th and 21st respectively.
