Keijo Leppänen visited Huomenta Finland on Wednesday.

Keijo Leppänen retired Pete Anikari

News anchor Keijo Leppänen, who retired in autumn 2024, visited Good morning Finland on air Wednesday morning. Leppänen, who worked as an entrepreneur after retirement, tells how his retirement has gone.

– If I had just stayed on the sofa as a pensioner, there would probably have been more harmful movement in my head. I had the opportunity and actually the desire to continue my working life, which is on the cusp of communication, Leppänen said.

Leppänen also said in the interview that he was asked Dancing with the stars -for the latest season of the program.

– When I’m seen on the floor of a dance program as a competitor, host or judge, then it’s a bad situation. Then my judgment has failed me. It’s more or less the same situation that I would call you every week to tell you how to make news, Leppänen said.

Friendship with Aki Hintsa

Later, Leppänen was accompanied to the studio by his goddaughter, the CEO Annastiina Hintsa, whose father is the late sports doctor Aki Hintsa.

– Aki and Marke, his father and mother came to Seinäjoki in the mid-80s and we were there too. There we drifted into a deep friendship and into the same circles, Leppänen said.

Aki asked Leppä to be his godfather and the ex-news anchor accepted the task “with pleasure.” Aki and Keijo were friends and Leppänen says that Aki also helped him in a fainting situation.

– I hurt my leg and called Aki. Aki said come here, let’s take a sauna and see what’s in it, Leppänen said.

Aki had told Keijo that the leg had to be amputated. Leppänen asked his friend on the boards of the sauna how he does it.

– I don’t remember anything else. I turned to it and woke up naked on the grass of Iirislahti, he had dragged me there, Leppänen recalled.

– He said afterwards that he has never seen a living person in such a deep coma. Fortunately, Aki and I were not known at the time, Leppänen said.
