Norway’s ski jumping star Halvor Egner Granerud has apologized again for his sharp verbal attack on the organizers of the Four Hills Tournament jumping in Innsbruck – at least for part of it.
He doesn’t regret everything he said to the organizers of the Innsbruck jumping event. “But I regret the things I can’t answer for,” Granerud told the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet.
The Norwegian emphasized that he still stands by his statement that the event was poorly organized. “But I can’t answer for saying that I don’t wish the organizers anything good. It’s embarrassing that that came out of my mouth,” explained the 29-year-old.
“Everything exploded yesterday”
“A lot of frustration” built up for him throughout the day. “Yesterday everything exploded and it came out. But I’m so experienced that I should have kept it to myself. That was a bit too much,” he admitted to a mistake on his part.
He didn’t notice much of the reaction to his outburst of anger. “I’m pretty good at not going anywhere,” he said. Ultimately, he was “a little too harsh” in his choice of words. “And for that I apologize.”
Ski jumping star is stuck in the elevator
Granerud had a real nightmare day while jumping in Innsbruck. Before the first jump, he was stuck in the diving platform elevator for over half an hour. He wore his ski jumping shoes because, according to him, the organizers lost his bag with his normal shoes.
“If I had had my normal shoes, that would have been one thing, but being stuck in ski jumping shoes for 35 minutes because I lost my shoe bag was the biggest problem,” complained the 29-year-old, who then jumped weakly and missed making it to the second round.
