Leon Goretzka has been playing for FC Bayern since 2018. Now the Catalans are said to be interested in the midfielder. Barcelona could benefit from a special trump card.
Is a high-profile farewell to FC Bayern on the horizon? Sky Sport reported on Monday evening: Leon Goretzka could be facing a change after eight years in Munich – and a reunion with a former coach. The national player’s contract with the German record champions expires at the end of this season; according to the report, an extension of the working paper is currently unlikely.
Sky Sport now writes further: FC Barcelona and coach Hansi Flick, who knows Goretzka from their time together at Bayern and the German national team, should show interest in signing the 30-year-old.
Goretzka enjoyed great success under Flick at Bayern Munich. Together they won, among other things, the legendary “Sextuple” in 2020. Sky Sport also writes: Barcelona want to rethink their midfield planning in April or May – and then Goretzka’s personality could become particularly relevant.
In addition to Barcelona, SSC Napoli is also showing interest in Goretzka. The broadcaster reports that there is nothing wrong with a possible winter transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.
Goretzka moved from FC Schalke 04 to Bayern in 2018. Since then he has played in 287 competitive games for Munich, scoring 46 goals and assisting 48 more goals. In the past, Goretzka was repeatedly considered a candidate for a change, but he always prevailed at Bayern. It is still unclear whether there will be another contract extension.
