“If the story of the raped girls is true, it is not without importance,” responds Walter Van Steenbrugge, the regular lawyer for victims of sexual abuse in the church. “The facts have not expired. Roger Vangheluwe could then still be prosecuted. And then other crimes could also be investigated.” Joris Van Cauter, Roger Vangheluwe’s lawyer, denies his client’s involvement. “Mr. Vangheluwe maintains that the facts from 2008 are absolute nonsense.”
