The travelers were able to board the plane around 1:20 p.m. The British Airways flight was supposed to depart at 1:45 p.m., but that didn’t work. A Schiphol spokesperson said it was an ‘excessive’ delay. “That’s not fun for anyone, especially not for the passengers.”

The reason for the delay is not known to the airport. That is a matter for British Airways itself.

Schiphol’s spokesperson does say that the snow has caused several other delays. Snow and ice must be removed from every aircraft. This took about half an hour each time and, because there was a kind of traffic jam before there was room for it, often caused a delay of one or two hours.

Problems are expected again tomorrow due to the snow. 350 flights have already been preventively canceled.
