The fans are in demand before the friendly against Werder Bremen. With shovels and snow shovels they help ensure that the game takes place. The Hamburgers are particularly convincing in the game.

Because of the onset of winter in northern Germany, it was not certain for a long time whether the friendly match would take place FC St Pauli against Werder Bremen on Sunday would even take place. In the morning, FC St. Pauli called on fans and members to come to the office in the Millerntor Stadium with snow shovels and shovels. They should clear the snow and ice from the stands.

The appeal had an impact: more than 50 supporters helped. A few hours later, the association even asked that no more people come. As a thank you to the volunteers, there were French rolls.

The game could therefore take place. The Bundesliga rivals FC St. Pauli and Werder Bremen drew in the test. A week before the first matchday of the new year, the teams played 0-0 in the Millerntor Stadium in front of 25,087 spectators.

In wintry conditions in Hamburg, the hosts had more of the game and had more chances of winning. After two days of training since the end of the Christmas break, Bremen were still having a hard time. St. Paulis head coach Alexander Blessin and his Werder colleague Horst Steffen each had their best players play in the first half. After the break they gave all other games their playing times.

“I have never or rarely had a winter friendly match that is sold out,” St. Pauli coach Alexander Blessin told Sky broadcaster before the game.

The Hamburg team starts the continuation of the Bundesliga season next Saturday (3:30 p.m./Sky) against RB Leipzig. Bremen will also play against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Saturday (3:30 p.m./Sky).
