2nd Bundesliga: Loss to Paderborn – was that it for HSV? – 2. Bundesliga – football

Paderborn lightning start

The game was just a minute old when Bakery Jatta lost the ball to Srbeny in midfield. The Paderborn attacker took a step, looked up briefly and then started a wonderful flick from about 40 meters. The ball flew over HSV keeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes, who was standing too far in front of his goal, into the right corner of the goal – the fastest goal conceded by HSV in its second division history.

HSV took a long time to recover from the early moment of shock. Robert Glatzel had an opportunity in the middle of the first half, but Paderborn was able to thwart it at the last moment.

Glatzel misses a penalty

Glatzel’s chance in the second half was even better, but the HSV striker missed it too. In the 57th minute he didn’t score a penalty well enough, SCP goalkeeper Jannik Huth was able to parry with a long arm. On the other side then the preliminary decision: Srbeny was the goal scorer again. The Paderborner wobbled out Mario Vuskovic in the penalty area and then scored to make it 2-0 (60th).

Giorgi Chakvetadze put a late end to HSV, who were weak that afternoon, with Huth letting his rather harmless long-range shot slip through his arms.

In its fourth year in the second division, HSV is still waiting for a win in April.
