This is how many ‘UFOs’ have been spotted above Zoetermeer in 2025

Do you ever see special things in the sky when you look up at night? According to some Zoetermeer residents, UFOs could simply be flying around. On the website of UFO Reporting Center Netherlands you can report any suspicious activity in the sky. That’s how many reports came from Zoetermeer in 2025.

Zoetermeer residents reported no fewer than ten UFOs above our city in 2025. From bright orbs to saucer-shaped objects: everything passes by and some notifications even include photos or a video.

Boomerangs and lights

There are special stories on the reporting center website, for example from September 23. Then Almar spotted an object in the sky that was shaped like a boomerang. “I was sitting on my balcony admiring the stars when an object flew by directly above me. It was shaped like a boomerang with, as far as I could count, 7 round, diffuse lights at the bottom.”

Earlier this year, on January 3, Anthony spotted one strange light above Zoetermeer. “Sitting in my living room, I saw a large light. It hung motionless in the sky, but was too big and bright for a star. After a while, the light moved slowly and disappeared behind an apartment building. I am convinced it is a UFO and also out of this world.”

UFO or rocket?

Some reports are explained by reasons other than extraterrestrial life. So it turned out cigar-shaped objectwhich Remon spotted on September 24, came from SpaceX’s Falcon9 rocket. A rocket entering the atmosphere can release a luminous plume. And that looks just like a UFO.

There was also an explanation for it diamond-shaped, blue light that Danielle saw on January 18. After some detective work, the loyal readers of UFO Meldpunt discovered that it was a crane. It was foggy that day, so the crane itself was not visible, but the light panels were.

Yet the vast majority of reports have no explanation. So it remains a big mystery what flies above Zoetermeer…
