Hamburger SV is one of the largest clubs in Germany. The news ticker on t-online contains all the important reports about the “Rothosen”.
The goalkeeper Daniel Peretz, who is willing to change, has Hamburger SV also missed the second team training of the new year. Instead of going out on the pitch with his teammates in the blowing snow in Hamburg, the goalkeeper, on loan from Bayern Munich, completed a session in the weight room.
The 25-year-old is at HSV only number two behind Daniel Heuer Fernandes and therefore dissatisfied with his situation. The keeper is aiming for a change of club and would like to move to Southampton FC in England.
Jonas Meffert is leaving Hamburger SV after four and a half years and returning to second division football club Holstein Kiel. Both clubs announced this. The 31-year-old midfielder had previously been released for contract discussions.
The Cologne native was active on the Kiel Fjord from 2018 to 2021 before joining HSV for the 2021/22 season and, with 146 games, played more competitive games there than for any other club in his career.
“Meffo was the epitome of consistency, reliability and team spirit. That’s precisely why there was no question for us that we would come to a solution together with a view to a sporting change that would give him more playing time,” said HSV sports director Claus Costa.
The defensive midfielder only played 144 minutes in four games for HSV in the first half of the season. “To this day, Holstein Kiel is a special club for me with which I was able to experience many beautiful and emotional moments. I experienced an important part of my career here and am very happy to be returning and being part of this environment again,” said Meffert.
Stefan Kuntz has surprisingly resigned from his position as HSV board member with immediate effect – for personal family reasons, as the club announced on Friday.
The 63-year-old asked the supervisory board to terminate his contract early immediately after Christmas. The control committee complied with the request, as a spokesman confirmed. Kuntz’s resignation is retroactive to December 31, 2025.
Kuntz took over the board position in May 2024 – with the aim of returning the club to the Bundesliga. This plan was successful: HSV was promoted in 2025, and Kuntz was considered a key figure in this success.
In a brief statement he said: Sometimes there are more important things than football. That is currently the case in his case. He did not give any further details. He commented on his farewell with the words: “I would like to thank HSV for a great year and a half. I wish the teams and the entire office the best.”
