In Oisterwijk, salt is only spread on certain emergency routes to prevent slippery conditions. The municipality is dealing with a shortage of salt due to ‘faltering distribution’.

“We have worked hard in recent days to sprinkle our roads as best as possible. Unfortunately, we are now dealing with faltering distribution of road salt,” the municipality said on its website.

This does not mean that gritting will no longer take place at all, but the municipality will limit itself to ’emergency routes’. These are the red roads on the map below:

It is not clear why the municipality has too little salt.

The situation may also have consequences for the municipality’s waste collection. “Due to snowfall and slippery conditions, containers may not be emptied everywhere,” the website reads.

Due to the weather conditions, the recycling centers in Haaren and Oisterwijk are closed.
