Catherine Keyl (79) is eager to do something on television periodically, for example once or twice a week, but politicians in The Hague no longer have to call her. That’s what they did…
Catherine Keyl’s columns are too much of a home garden level to give her a platform in Today Inside, says Johan Derksen, and that is why she is not welcome at the table. Despite the fact that the program suffers from a dire shortage of female table guests. Catherine herself would like it. She likes to do something in front of TV every now and then.
Asked three times
Isn’t a career change something for Catherine? Doesn’t she want to use her fame for influence in politics in The Hague? “I have been asked to do that three times, but making policy is too slow for me,” she says Story. “As a presenter I can also get involved in issues and make myself heard.”
What does she consider an important theme? “I am committed to helping other elderly people. I am involved in information days about cybercrime throughout the Netherlands, mainly to warn elderly people about all kinds of scams. This has been so successful that elderly people are being scammed less and less.”
Cyber Minister?
There is another option for 50PLUS to participate in the formation discussions, for example to create a majority. Doesn’t Catherine want to work as minister of cyber affairs?
No, says Catherine. She points out that she turns 80 this year. “I have always lived from day to day. Turning eighty seemed like something for the distant future. And in addition, I have lost many friends who were still quite young when they died. So it is not for everyone. I realize that very well.”
