THE2026 marks a new, painful but necessary chapter for Fausto Zanardelli. With the release of the single So much sothe musician inaugurates his solo career as Fausto Lamaofficially putting an end to the dei project Coma Things. A professional farewell, of course, but which also marks the end of the long love story with Francesca Mesiano, aka Californiahis life and stage partner for a decade. In an interview with Corriere della SeraFausto sincerely explores the rubble of a bond that has consumed itself between notes and feelings.
Coma Cose, because it ended between Fausto and Francesca Mesiano
The break, announced last October with the cancellation of concerts in the arenas, has its roots in a short circuit between private and public. «Mixing love and music is very dangerous»confesses Fausto, explaining how the artistic project had already collapsed on a creative level after the album Molten life. The fatal mistake, according to the artist, was not being able to distinguish the two levels: «At a certain point they merge, one becomes the simulacrum of the other and you no longer know what you are in love with: a song, a projection». Everyday life had become a continuous tension, an emotional burnout that Fausto defines as «a beautiful cage».

Marriage and the illusion of a new beginning
Despite the crisis told in Sanremo 2023 with the song The farewell and the subsequent announcement of the marriage, the newfound stability proved fragile. Although the wedding was an attempt to restore order, reality took over. «Love transforms: even friendship and respect, two feelings that are still there, but what is missing is the fuel for a romantic relationship»admits Zanardelli. Despite the physical separation, the bond remains deep: «There is a physical goodbye, but the mental one between me and Francesca can never exist».
The solo rebirth of Fausto Lama
Today Fausto starts again from himself, reclaiming an identity that he felt he had partially sacrificed for the good of the duo. In the Coma Cose years, the artist felt the weight of an almost invisible role: «I had taken steps backwards to the point that I felt like the ghost writer of a couple». Now, with a new album on the way born from jam sessions with musician friends in Ovada, Fausto tries to free his cynicism and his irony, elements that had remained in the shadows. «I feel that space has been freed up to reclaim my visions of the world»he concludes, leaving fans with the coherence of a painful but authentic choice.
