In a wild game with several changes due to injuries and a number of great chances, Cameroon narrowly defeated Mozambique. Leverkusen’s Christian Kofane scored well in Cameroon’s 2-1 (1-1) win on Wednesday evening.

Geny Catamo scored for Mozambique in Agadir, but a curious own goal from Nené (28th) equalized shortly afterwards. After the break, Kofane delighted the Cameroon fans with his impressive long-range goal, which turned the game around for the favorites.

Cameroon now against South Africa, also Mozambique

In the long-distance duel for group victory, Cameroon is left behind against Ivory Coast due to fewer goals scored and only advances to the round of 16 as second in the group. There it is against South Africa on Sunday. The “Mambas” from Mozambique also reach the next round as the best third place in the group and meet the strong Nigerians.

In a crazy game with several strange scenes and some big chances missed in a slapstick manner, Mozambique could have equalized late on, but Joao Bonde in particular lacked the composure in front of the goal when he shot from close range (83′). So Kofane’s goal, in which Leverkusen’s striker hit the corner from 18 meters, remained the winning goal.
