The first leg between the two clubs wasn’t that long ago. At the beginning of December, Leeds United and Liverpool FC drew 3-3 in a furious game. At Elland Road, LFC initially took the lead thanks to a brace from Hugo Ekitiké. After the break, Leeds came back into the game with a double strike before Liverpool struck again. In the 6th minute of injury time, Ao Tanaka finally scored the celebrated equalizer for Leeds United.

However, ex-Gladbach coach Daniel Farke’s team has recently gained a lot of self-confidence. With two wins and three draws, Leeds are unbeaten in five games. In the last game of 2025 there was a 1-1 draw against Sunderland. Daniel Farke makes four changes to the starting eleven. Jayden Bogle, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor (all bench) and Joe Rodon (ankle injury) make way for Sebastiaan Bornauw, James Justin, Ilia Gruev and Lukas Nmecha.
