    The first leg between the two clubs wasn’t that long ago. At the beginning of December, Leeds United and Liverpool FC drew 3-3 in a furious game. At Elland Road, LFC initially took the lead thanks to a brace from Hugo Ekitiké. After the break, Leeds came back into the game with a double strike before Liverpool struck again. In the 6th minute of injury time, Ao Tanaka finally scored the celebrated equalizer for Leeds United.

    Leeds United faces a difficult program at the start of the year with games against Liverpool FC, Manchester United and Newcastle United. However, ex-Gladbach coach Daniel Farke’s team has recently gained a lot of self-confidence. With two wins and three draws, Leeds are unbeaten in five games. In the last game of 2025 there was a 1-1 draw against Sunderland. Daniel Farke makes four changes to the starting eleven. Jayden Bogle, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor (all bench) and Joe Rodon (ankle injury) make way for Sebastiaan Bornauw, James Justin, Ilia Gruev and Lukas Nmecha.

Former Leverkusen player Florian Wirtz scored his first goal in the Premier League against Wolves. Coach Arne Slot makes three changes to the starting lineup: Conor Bradley, Andy Robertson and Dominik Szoboszlai start instead of Milos Kerkez, Alexis Mac Allister and Federico Chiesa (all bench).
