Hélène Hendriks finds the way in which Henk Spaan commented on her Moroccan dress very ‘sour’, as she revealed in De Telegraaf. “I mainly received a lot of positive messages.”

The fragments in which Hélène Hendriks shines in Moroccan clothing are decent viral gone. Many people find it connecting how she behaves during her work for Ziggo Sport, which broadcasts the matches of the Africa Cup, and therefore also those of the Moroccan team. Hélène turned it into a real Moroccan party in the studio.

Drum

Sports presenter Henk Spaan was less charmed by that cultural excess. He expressed his annoyance at Hélène’s dressing up. “Hélène Hendriks wears Moroccan garb. Do we keep that at all competitions? Appropriate clothing?”

He continued cynically: “It will be a laugh if she has to present Volendam. Mirrors in the hat. When Ivory Coast is broadcast later, will Hélène Hendriks bring a drum?”

Pickles

How does Hélène view these kinds of criticisms? “People are allowed to have an opinion about this,” she says in conversation with The Telegraph. “Our director is Moroccan. He brought this dress from his wife. We thought it was nice to connect with Morocco in this way.”

Then she indirectly lashes out quite harshly at critics such as Henk Spaan. In addition to a few sour reactions, I received many positive messages. Beautiful, isn’t it?

Management

Would Hélène like to do something with couture besides TV? No, but she does have other plans. “I want to study or learn a language. For example, I think it would be fun to delve more into management or entrepreneurship. I still have to figure it out.”

“I think it’s always good to keep learning, to see things from a different perspective.”
