It was a busy night for the police and fire brigade in Drenthe. Fire broke out in several places, including a house in Roden. The riot police were deployed in Assen after officers were pelted with fireworks
Around 2 a.m. the fire alarm went off at a daycare center at the Boomgaard in the Asser Kloosterveen district. Unknown people had thrown fireworks into the building. While the fire brigade and police were investigating, many young people were out and about. They threw heavy fireworks at the emergency workers, after which the police decided to deploy the riot police. As far as we know, four arrests have been made.
The unrest in the Kloosterveen district comes as no surprise. In recent weeks it has often been restless in the evenings in the neighborhood.
