Ayhan Akman, who served as Deputy Football Director at Galatasaray, announced that he resigned from his position.
Galatasaray Deputy Football Director Ayhan Akman announced that he resigned from his position by making a written statement on his social media account. Referring to his successes with the yellow-red jersey, Akman said:
“Dear Galatasaray fans. I wish everyone a healthy and happy new year. I proudly wore the Galatasaray jersey for 11 years. I struggled to represent the glorious Galatasaray in the best way. I experienced championships, won cups, served as captain. I experienced great joys and accumulated wonderful memories. Together with the legendary 2011-2012 championship cup that we lifted in Kadıköy with indescribable feelings, the Galatasaray jersey I quit football as captain while I was on the team. However, this was not the end for me, I continued to serve Galatasaray as a member of this community. I always tried to do the best for our club. We won a total of 7 championships, 4 of which were as a football player, in Galatasaray, of which I had the chance to be a member. I wholeheartedly believe that another championship is on the way and that we will be at the top at the end of the 2025-2026 season.
As of today, I am leaving my position as assistant football director, which I have been holding for 3.5 years. I wish our club endless success in the league and towards our goals in Europe. “May God have mercy on our brother Gökmen, who we lost this evening, and I wish patience to his family, relatives and community.”
