Philipp Raimund and Felix Hoffmann have not yet shown any big jumps in the ski jumping in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in qualifying.
Raimund finished fifth in the second event of the Four Hills Tournament on New Year’s Eve (December 31, 2025), Hoffmann was eighth. The big dominator was once again Domen Prevc from Slovenia, who is the clear favorite for the jumping on Thursday (2 p.m., live ticker at sportschau.de) and for the overall ranking.
Embacher flies to 145.5 meters
Prevc, who won the qualification and competition in Oberstdorf, jumped 139.5 meters (150.6 points) in front of 7,000 spectators and came out ahead of the Austrian Jan Hörl (146.2). His compatriot Stephan Embacher came third (143.2), the super talent increased the hill record by half a meter to 145.5 meters with a longer run 13 days before his 20th birthday.
Raimund, who reached 135.0 meters (141.8 points), and Hoffmann (134.0/139.7) were at least within striking distance of third place. Like Raimund and Hoffmann, Pius Paschke of the DSV Eagles qualified in 20th place, Andreas Wellinmger and Ben Bayer tied for 27th and Karl Geiger in 31st place for the big showdown on New Year’s Day.
Bayer was even in the lead for a while
Bayer showed a top performance with 131 meters and even spent some time in the leader box. He then expressed his satisfaction: “I did really well with the jump, I’m really happy to have qualified for jumping. It’s something special to be taking part in the tour for the first time.”
Wellinger and Geiger also qualified
The former superstars Geiger and Wellinger, who have now gone through deep valleys, also did very well. Geiger had even missed the final round at the start of the tour in Oberstdorf, but this time he managed to do so with 125 meters. Wellinger’s jump of 124.5 meters also looked significantly better than many of his recent jumps. Wellinger was correspondingly happy: “That was a good end to the year, now I can fully attack in the final,”
From the DSV squad, Constantin Schmid, who was unlucky in 51st place, Luca Roth and Max Unbelief did not qualify for the New Year’s competition.
