December 31st – 5.19pm – MILAN

Sun, biting cold and a lot of people on the side of the road cheering for the Azzurri, first and foremost Nadia Battocletti And Yemaneberhan Crippain the 51st edition of the BoClassic of Bolzano.

BoClassic 2025: men’s race results

The first to compete on the 10 km of the challenging 1250 meter circuit, with lots of cobblestones and several curves to break the pace, were the men. Truly spectacular race with a not very fast start and relative passage to the 5 km in 14.09. Then it’s the Ethiopian Yomif Kejelchathe great favorite on the eve, to violently change pace, bringing into line the other three athletes who had remained with him in the leading group, namely his compatriot Telahun Haile Bekele, our Crippa and the South African Maxime Chaumeton.

Only Telahun Haile Bekele tries to stay in his wake, but to no avail. With a very fast second 5km in 13.33, Kejelcha reaches the finish line with arms raised in 27.42, shattering the previous race record. The irreducible Bekele is second in 27.47, Crippathird in 27.57, set his best time ever in Bolzano, managing to defend third place from the recovery of the South African Chaumeton, fourth in 27.59. Then again foreigners with the excellent Belgian John Heymans, fifth in 28.17, ahead of the Kenyan Charles Rotich, who stopped the clock at a time of 28.36.

The Italian podium, after Crippa, is completed by Alberto Mondazzieighth in 29.17, ahead of Luca Alfierininth in 29.19. However, Crippa’s race was good, just 24 days before the Valencia marathon. After the Epiphany, the blue will go a month in Kenya to train and then return to Italy to compete in the half marathon in Naples, an important test before returning to the marathon.

BoClassic 2025: Battocletti dominates in the women’s race

The women’s 5km race is objectively much less exciting than the men’s. The big favourite Nadia Battocletti he doesn’t want to overdo it right from the start and remains in command of the leading group for the first 2500 metres, covered in 8.21, i.e. at 3.20 per km. With her, about ten athletes including the Ethiopian Ksanet Alem, the Welsh Cari Hughes and the Italians Federica Del Buono and Valentina Gemetto. Then Nadia initiates a formidable progression that her opponents of the day certainly cannot replicate. His arrival solo, in 3.51pm. Second half of the race in 7.30, i.e. 3 minutes per km and third historic success in the Boclassic. In 2023 he won in 15.30 ahead of Kenyan Nelly Chepchirchir (15.33), last year in 15.31 ahead of Ethiopian Aleshign Baweke (15.35).

Sprint for the podium behind Battocletti: the winner for second place Federica Del Buono in 16.04, ahead of the Ethiopian Ksanet third in 16.05, fourth in 16.06 Hughes ahead of Valentina Gemettofifth in 16.08.

The next commitment for Nadia is Campaccio cross 2026, scheduled for January 25th: here the Italian champion will try to do an encore after the victory in 2025. After that race, for the first time, her preparation will be aimed at indoor races, with a focus on indoor world championship scheduled in Poland from 22 to 26 March in Torun.
