As of: December 30, 2025 11:17 p.m

The fans at Stamford Bridge saw an entertaining duel between Chelsea and the visitors from Bournemouth on matchday 19 of the Premier League. In the 2:2 (2:2) draw, both teams revealed problems in their own defense. Chelsea is slipping deeper into crisis.

Captain David Brooks opened the most eventful 21 minutes of the game with his goal to make it 1-0 (6th). Cole Palmer with a penalty (15th) and Enzo Fernandez in his 100th Premier League game (23rd) turned the game around within a few minutes. The Dutchman Justin Kluivert made it 2-2 (27th) and a happy draw for the Cherries from Bournemouth.

The Blues were once again unsuccessful at Stamford Bridge at home and only managed one win from their last seven league games. Bournemouth has been waiting for a win in the Premier League since October 26, 2025 and remains in 15th place in the table after the points have been shared.

After just six minutes, Antoine Semenyo, who was courted by Manchester City, provided the first highlight of the game. The offensive player took a throw-in far into the Blues penalty area, where the ball landed at Brooks after a few detours. The captain poked the ball into the goal as he followed up and gave his Cherries an early lead (6th). However, the guests couldn’t rest for long because the recently celebrated provider Semenyo brought down Estevao in his own penalty area.

Semenyo first with an assist, then caused the penalty

Palmer (15th) happily converted the subsequent penalty, ex-Chelsea goalkeeper Dorde Petrovic was in the right corner but could not fend off the ball. After the equalizer, the hosts remained unstable in defense, first Evanilson (18th), then Brooks (19th) tested Blues keeper Robert Sanchez. Luckily for the CFC, Bournemouth also made mistakes.

Fernandez (23′) was not seriously attacked after a one-two with Alejandro Garnacho in the penalty area and slammed the ball into the right corner from eleven meters. Almost in the immediate counterattack, the AFC turned the game on its head again, in the style of the first goal. Semenyo with a throw-in thrown wide, this time Chelsea defender Chalobah involuntarily extended it for Kluivert (27th), who only had to push in at the second post.

Kluivert ended a wild 21 minutes with another equalizer

After the fourth goal within 21 minutes, the game in London calmed down for the first time. Both teams needed until after the half-time break to get back into their offensive actions. In the 55th minute, a missed penalty caused the first upset; Malo Gusto misjudged and clearly touched the ball with his outstretched arm. Referee Sam Barrott still decided there was no criminal handball – quite fortunate for the hosts.

There were still few real chances to score, Estevao had the best (58′), but Marcos Senesi cleared the ball in front of his goalkeeper with a tackle. Nevertheless, it became increasingly noticeable that the fifteenth-placed Bournemouth concentrated exclusively on defense, while Estevao continued to swirl offensively for the Blues.

Chelsea cannot reward themselves for a strong final phase

Captain Fernandez (77th) had the best chance after a Neto corner, the Argentine’s shot flew just over the crossbar. After that, the home team tried hard, but could no longer reward themselves for their courageous second half. We were even lucky that substitute Enes Ünal missed the lob over Sanchez, who had already been beaten, in stoppage time. So, just like the last game between the two teams in December (0-0), it remained a draw.
