Transfermarkt has adjusted the market values of 465 players in the Mexican Liga MX – the last major update in 2025. There have been big changes at the top: three players now lead the ranking, each with a market value of 10 million euros. Club América’s Allan Saint-Maximin, previously the league’s most valuable player at €13 million, drops by €3 million – level with Alexis Vega (Toluca). The top trio is completed by Gilberto Mora, one of the biggest talents in the CONCACAF region.

“Gilberto Mora has developed from a promising talent into a solid young professional,” explains Osvaldo González Camacho, Transfermarkt Area Manager Mexico. “At 17, he is a regular at Tijuana and a fixture for Mexico at youth level. His performances at the U20 World Cup confirmed what the league had already shown: maturity beyond his age, precise passing, goal threat and tactical reliability.”

Mora is one of the biggest winners of the update: its market value rose from 4.5 million to 10 million euros. The five-time national player is now one of the ten most valuable players of his year.

Devaluation for Saint-Maximin after 10 million transfer

América’s star newcomer Saint-Maximin, signed from Al-Ahli in August for 10.3 million euros, will be devalued by 3 million euros to 10 million euros. “His original value was based on European performances at Fenerbahce, not the Mexican league,” Camacho said. “Technically it remains outstanding, but the adaptation reflects limited operational time and a sustained adjustment period.”

Deportivo Toluca experiences a mixed update: Marcel Ruiz increases his market value by 1 million to 9 million euros. “At 22 years old, Ruiz is no longer a talent, but one of the most complete midfielders in the league,” emphasizes Camacho. “Consistency, influence and tactical intelligence make him a candidate for the World Cup starting eleven.”

Paulinho, winner of the “Player of the Season” award, is meanwhile devalued by one million euros and now stands at 6 million euros. “His goal rate is outstanding, but the market value also takes future prospects into account. With increasing age, age-related depreciation sets in,” says Camacho about the ex-Sporting striker, who was involved in 21 goals in 25 games.

Ex-Man United star Martial is 12th minus since 2020

Anthony Martial is tied in terms of market value – in the most important statistic for a striker he is 21 goals behind Paulinho. The Frenchman, who moved from AEK Athens to Monterrey in September for one million euros, falls from 7.5 million to 6 million euros. “Martial’s problems are not a blip, but part of a pattern. Expectations exceed his actual impact – the reassessment was inevitable,” said Camacho. In 2020, Martial was valued at 60 million euros. Since then there have been zero appreciations and twelve devaluations.

US winger Cade Cowell from Deportivo Guadalajara is also devalued – after a loss of 200,000 euros he stands at 3.8 million euros. “Not a decline in potential, but a structural mismatch,” explains Camacho. “Limited playing time and a system that doesn’t take advantage of one’s strengths are slowing down development. A loan move to the New York Red Bulls could reverse the trend.”

This is how transfer market market values work

The transfer market market values are created taking into account various pricing models as well as a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values cannot generally be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.

The goal is not to predict a price, but rather an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
