Survived the illness Iivo Niskanen went to test his fitness against the world’s best at the Tour de Ski. Monday’s traditional ten as an intermediate start offered the right seam for it.

However, the result was disappointing for Niskanes. He finished fourth in the race. However, the difference to the leader was 24 seconds. Almost 15 seconds off the time would have been required for the podium.

Niskanen’s goal attracted attention. He slid head straight through the finish area into the pits and out of the pictures.

– There weren’t really any other thoughts. It just wasn’t enough. Miserable activity, Niskanen began in an interview with Viaplay.

He described how he felt and felt good during the race.

– All right skis.

– The feeling in the race was quite good, the result was weak, he continued.

Iivo Niskanen was barely 15 seconds short of the podium place. Pasi Liesimaa

Viaplay’s reporter asked what was the reason for the weak result.

– The others are so much tougher.

Viaplay expert Sami Jauhojärvi said the comments sounded like the words of a disillusioned athlete.

– Nowadays, you can’t find out anything about Niskanen’s comments. Especially if there is no profit, then it is a different situation.

– Let’s ask again in the evening, when I still came fourth with not-so-optimal preparation, Jauhojärvi continued.
