Philipp Raimund is raising German ski jumping hopes at the 74th Four Hills Tournament with his strong second place in the qualification in Oberstdorf.
On Sunday, the 25-year-old had to admit defeat to top favorite Domen Prevc (139.5 meters) from Slovenia after a jump of 132.5 meters.
“That was phenomenal. It’s wonderful and just feels really nice,” said Raimund with satisfaction after qualifying for the start of the 74th Four Hills Tournament.
The DSV Adler was able to rely on the support from his home town of Oberstdorf. “It’s wonderful to have so many people here. And then doing good jumps is twice as cool,” Raimund told “ARD”.
Tour favorite Prevc “a flying phenomenon”
Raimund goes on Monday afternoon (4:30 p.m. in sport.de-Liveticker) at the start as a challenger to Prevc. “He’s simply a flying phenomenon, you have to say that quite honestly. I still have a bit of a way to get there,” said Raimund in amazement about the Slovenian ski jumping superstar.

- Constantin Schmid (Oberaudorf/44.) – Ryoyu Kobayashi (Japan/7th)
For Karl Geiger, however, the qualification in Oberstdorf ended in disappointment. The 32-year-old veteran only jumped 106.5 meters and thus only took 53rd place. The five-time ski jumping world champion will have to watch on Monday.
