The steward blew 280 μg/L, which is equivalent to more than 0.6 per mille. A maximum of 0.2 per mille is permitted in aviation. The Public Prosecution Service fined the steward 1,100 euros and he was also banned from flying for five hours, the police reported.

A total of 212 alcohol tests were carried out between 7am and 8.30am among cabin and flight crew. Airline crew are not allowed to drink alcohol ten hours before a flight.
The alcohol check among the flying staff at Schiphol was carried out by the Aviation Supervision Team, together with the Royal Military Police.
The Aviation Surveillance team of the National Expertise and Operations Unit regularly carries out these types of checks among cabin and cockpit crew of scheduled flights and private flights at various airports in the Netherlands.
