Out in the 3rd round
Fan favorite flies out: surprise at the Darts World Cup
December 27, 2025 – 11:30 p.mReading time: 1 min.

Some big names failed early at the Darts World Cup in London. In the 3rd round another one is added.
Stephen Bunting was surprisingly thrown out of the Darts World Cup in the third round. The world number four lost against outsider James Hurrell 3:4. Bunting simply lacked consistency. Too often the crowd favorite missed the triple fields while Hurrell hit one dart after another.
The outsider remained extremely strong, because with the score at 3:3 it looked like a win for Bunting. Hurrell, number 63 in the world, will now face the winner of the duel between Martin Schindler and Ryan Searle (on Sunday from 1.30 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online).
With Bunting, the next big name at this Darts World Cup is already out. James Wade, Danny Noppert, Chris Dobey and Gerwyn Price from the top ten have also already been eliminated. Other prominent players such as Dave Chisnall, Michael Smith, Dirk van Duijvenbode and Peter Wright have already had to travel home.
