Conciliatory end to the year for the Hessian handball Bundesliga teams: MT Melsungen fought its way to a home win against Stuttgart. The HSG Wetzlar missed the sensation against top team Lemgo, but the performance gives hope.
MT Melsungen ended the 2025 handball year with a 33:28 home win against TVB Stuttgart. The North Hessians initially had a difficult time in the game against the Swabians on Friday, but in the second half the MT turned up the heat and deservedly won. Ruben Marchan and Dainis Kriatopans scored six goals each.
The Bartenwetzer are temporarily in seventh place in the table, but the Rhein-Neckar Löwen could still overtake them on Saturday.

HSG Wetzlar confirms upward trend
Meanwhile, HSG Wetzlar showed another strong performance in the third game under new coach Runar Sigtryggsson. At third-placed Lemgo, Central Hesse kept everything open for a long time, and it was only in the final phase that the game tipped in favor of the hosts. After two time penalties against Wetzlar within a very short time and three strong saves from Lemgo’s keeper Constantin Möstl, Lemgo pulled away decisively. Final score: 25:28 from HSG’s perspective.
For both teams it’s time to take a breather and put their feet up. The European Handball Championships are on the agenda in January, and the next matchday in the Bundesliga will take place on February 10th and 11th.
