For a year and a half, the members of the Haarlem football club Koninklijke HFC imagined themselves on the beach instead of at a football complex. The club used a beach pavilion as an emergency building, but it is now for sale.

It can be acquired for 25,000 euros (excluding VAT). “You have to take it apart and put it back together yourself,” says Jan Piet Vink, member of the building committee of ‘de Koninklijke’ from Haarlem.

The old dilapidated canteen has been demolished. Instead, a brand new club building will appear next year. A former Corendon beach pavilion was an emergency solution. Beachclub Tien in Zandvoort previously used the white beach tent, when the club opened in 2020was hit by a fire.

“We have now enjoyed using it for a season and a half,” Vink explains. “Because a lot of it is made of wood, it gave a cozy feeling. But in the winter we had a high bill to keep it warm inside.” Occasionally the coats had to be left on.

Despite the many drinks and parties, the pavilion is still completely intact. CIOS students also received lessons there. For a minimum of 25,000 euros you get 325 square meters of usable space, including bar, toilets and kitchen.

Chandeliers

The interior is still subject to negotiation. “There is interest in the ‘royal’ chandeliers, but we prefer to keep them ourselves. Unless a lot of money is offered, because we could really use that now,” says Vink. For example, borrowed tables go back to the owners. TV screens will be installed in the new clubhouse.

Vink installed the pavilion together with the construction team. “It was stored in containers. We sometimes had to make some adjustments. When the ceiling was installed, a seagull immediately sat on it. That was nice.”

From Heemstede back to Haarlem

The building will be available from June 1, 2026. The new canteen must be ready for use on August 1. This also applies to the new main field, which moves a few meters. The club’s first team will therefore move to the RCH football fields in Heemstede until the summer.
