The malpractice that the ruling party exhibits in each key vote in Congress – even today, when it has a sufficient number of legislators to avoid difficulties – worries the small table of power. In that inner circle of Javier Milei they no longer know whether to laugh or cry with the succession of legislative bloopers that had its last chapter days ago, when in Deputies the famous article 11 of the Budget Law with which the Government intended to materialize its bogey on the Disability Emergency and university financing was shipwrecked. In parallel, in the Senate it was learned that the vote for the labor reform, the other libertarian rant, will only happen in February, at best. Two played, two lost.
Since defeats have consequences, crossed accusations began to fly at Milei’s small table. The bill passes have on one side the Menem cousins (Martín, the president of Deputies, and “Lule”, sister Karina’s off-road operator), and on the other, the Caputos, nephew and uncle (the first is Santiago, star advisor to the President, and the other “Toto”, Minister of Economy). What both parties claim is neither more nor less than the paternity of the piece of paper. The Menems, in charge of negotiating with the governors to translate that support into voting in Congress, suffered the desertion of several of them at the time when they needed them most. And Santiago Caputo not only blames them, but from now on he will intervene in the conversation with the provinces, like a caring firefighter. On the side of the Riojans, the accusation is against “Toto” Caputo, who they accuse of the clumsiness with which he tried to sneak the presidential veto of the Disability Emergency and university financing into a law in which only the Budget should be voted on. That, they say, irritated all those who did not support the initiative.
Finally, Patricia Bullrich, the new head of the libertarian senators, does not emerge unscathed from criticism either. His failed debut, without being able to impose the labor reform before the end of the year, caused him to lose points in the consideration of the Milei brothers. Karina still appreciates her, although a little less than a few weeks ago.
Congress continues to be an ordeal for libertarians. It is seen, paraphrasing the President, that victories there do not depend on the number of soldiers.
