Defender about DFB ambitions

Should Bayern Munich’s top talent Lennart Karl (17) be nominated for next year’s World Cup? The question has been bothering football Germany for weeks. Teammate Jonathan Tah (29) now expressed a very clear opinion on this.
“If he continues like this, then I don’t know what speaks against him being able to help our team,” said Tah in an interview with the Munich “Abendzeitung” (Wednesday). “If he can do it at Bayern Munich, in the Champions League, then he has everything he needs to show it with the national team. Of course it’s a decision of the national coach. I just think he’s doing a really great job at the moment.” In the DFB uniform, Karl recently scored three goals in two games with the U21 team. He scored seven times in 13 games for the U17s.
Karl had his chance in the Munich offensive in Munich, partly because of Jamal Musiala (22)’s serious injury at the Club World Cup in the summer, and took advantage of it with sensational performances. He scored three goals in four Champions League and 13 Bundesliga appearances. Its market value rose to 60 million euros in the December update. Previously valued at 20 million euros, Karl not only received the largest increase in this market value update, but the largest in Bundesliga history. At the age of 17, he is already one of the ten most valuable players in the league.
Tah underlines DFB ambitions at the World Cup
Whether with or without Karl; Tah is optimistic about the upcoming tournament, which will take place from June 11th to July 19th in the USA, Canada and Mexico. For the first time, the game will be played with 48 teams in twelve preliminary round groups (for an overview of all groups).
“It makes no sense to me at all to play in a tournament and say: We want to get to the quarter-finals. And I also believe that we have the quality in the team to do that,” said Tah about the DFB team’s ambitions. Julian Nagelsmann’s team “found faith” in themselves again. “We are looking forward to our group opponents and are self-confident enough to say: We have something going for us at the World Cup.” Nagelsmann himself has set the goal of winning the World Cup.
