Broad Primary School (BBS) De Verwondering definitely does not have to move to Bewegingscentrum Norg. The municipality of Noordenveld wanted the school to move, but reversed the decision after advice from the objection committee.
The school wanted to remain at its current location in Alteveer because the building suits its own form of education. But because the school has been funded by the state since August, the municipality is responsible for the school’s accommodation. A disagreement arose about this.
The current building does not meet the municipal rules and requirements for school buildings. The building is outdated and not designed as a school. That is why, against the wishes of the school, Noordenveld chose to look for an alternative location. The Movement Center came out on top.
Because De Verwondering does not yet have a permanent claim on money from the government, the Movement Center was a temporary solution. The school must grow to one hundred students within four years and to two hundred within eight years. Only then will the money from the government be final and after that the school would also be given a permanent place.
Following the advice of the objections committee, the municipality is now withdrawing the original decision. The school’s move will therefore not take place and De Verwondering will remain in its current building for the time being. Noordenveld will also take no further action until the school itself submits a request for accommodation to the municipality.
However, the municipality has concluded a lease agreement for part of the Norg Movement Center for the next four years. Together we investigate what should be done with the space.
