The president of the Lega Serie A speaks before the final between Napoli and Bologna, in Riyadh
The president of Serie A, Ezio Maria Simonelli has opened up to the possibility of a return to the old format for the Italian Super Cup as early as next year. The hypothesis was put forward before today’s final between Napoli and Bologna, in an interview with Sport Mediaset: “The synergy with the Arab world has gone well up to here, we’ve been hosting the Super Cup in this place for four years. Next year it won’t be played here.” And again: “Perhaps from the next edition we will return to the old format”. That is, “the winner of the championship against the winner of the Italian cup, just as will happen this evening”.
