Only 14 balls played and a perfect match. Blue works in tandem with Icelandic

December 22 – 11.29am – FLORENCE

It’s a less joyful Christmas than last time, but it’s still a celebration and with a couple of gifts under the purple tree. Exactly twelve months ago, in the shift that preceded the holidays, Moses Kean reached the goal most coveted by center forwards: ten goals in the championship, reaching the double-digit goal. Twenty-third December 2024, then on the pitch for the seventeenth matchday: Moise’s goal against Udinese. Nine more followed, with the eventual title of vice-top scorer of the tournament. Christmas 2025 is less glittering: the success, again against Udinese, is worth it first victory of the championship. The end of the retreat at Viola Park is a gift. For Kean, sharing with the Viola fans, two more gift packages: the right-footed shot from two steps followed by Parisi’s post (4-0 Fiorentina) and the powerful conclusion to close a counterattack started by Dodo. They are the fourth and fifth goals of the evening for Viola, Moise’s third and fourth of the championship. The other two had brought just one point: scoring in the defeat against Roma and in the draw against Bologna at the end of last October. It was the Pioli era.

Banded up

Instead, they are the first goals offered to Vanoli’s Fiorentina and even if they close the score, it is in fact Moise himself who opens the scoring. It happens when, following Parisi’s throw, Kean flies towards the opponent’s goal and finds opposition Okoye: sent off for touching his hand outside the area. The Juventus goalkeeper collapses on Moise who remains on the ground in pain: Parisi himself reaches out to draw the staff’s attention and the doctors to come in. Fagioli urges, other companions go around him. The purple night seems to be getting even darker: when the attacker gets up he leaves the field limping. Piccoli, the designated deputy, immediately sent to warm up. And here I am again Moise attempting recovery, plastered under his eyebrow (old game clash) and on right thigh. He doesn’t give up: an attempt to sprint here, a call to depth on the other side, an aerial duel. Kean is there. And he will end his game with other excellent numbers. First of his team for goals scored (2), shots on target (3) and shots outside (always 3). Just as many sides: no one better than him. In everything 14 balls playedi: data to be interpreted as synonymous with great cynicism. Before yesterday, the national team striker’s last brace dates back to 6 February against Inter. And Udinese scores well: it is the team against which Moise has scored the most goals in Serie A, six.

What a couple

To say, the balls played by Gudmundsson are 66 in total: and Albert was often criticized for his lack of team play. Unlike Kean, he was also combative in the rest of the season despite the goals not arriving and his aim failing. Yesterday the scoring duo reunited and in theunion of class and power the hopes of the Viola team’s recovery are pinned. Before Moise, he had hit the Icelandic striker himself: a post and a great left-footed goalafter a feint to get rid of Karlstrom’s marking. From Gudmundsson other plays of elegance combined with practicality. For him too, Udinese means celebration: it is the team against which he has been involved in the most goals in the Italian top flight: four, with three goals and one assist. But it’s still a sad celebration.
