Former world champion Gerwyn Price is surprisingly eliminated. Martin Schindler remains in top form at the World Cup in London, Littler wobbles briefly.

Out for former world champion Gerwyn Price at the World Darts Championship in London. The Welshman was completely unexpectedly defeated by Wesley Plaisier. The 2021 World Cup champion and ninth in the world rankings lost 3-0 to the Dutchman, who was 83 places lower.

“It was a close game,” said Schindler on DAZN: “But I still have more potential. I can play even better.” After the Christmas break, Schindler will face the Englishman Ryan Searle, who has also been convincing so far. Against Searle, “the same approach is necessary. I have to play my own game, that’s what matters,” said the Strausberger.

Schindler remained ice cold in the important moments. All three sets went into the deciding leg, Schindler kept his nerve in all of them, and the second match dart was right. The world number 13 was able to Didn’t quite match his average from the first round (99.14 points) – the second highest by a German in World Cup history – but he still showed another strong performance with an average of just over 96 points. Schindler is in the Ally Pally for the third time in round three. Things have never gone further for the four-time PDC tournament winner.

The German World Cup record participant Hopp only won one leg in his comeback after five years of absence against the 25th seeded Englishman Luke Woodhouse and lost 0:3. However, his ninth World Cup start can still be seen as a success; Hopp has only been back on the PDC professional tour since January.

World champion Littler beat qualifier David Davies from Wales 3-0, but almost got off to a false start. Davies missed several set darts in the first round, then the 18-year-old Englishman pulled away. Next up is the only Austrian in the tournament, Mensur Suljovic.

Schindler followed Ricardo Pietreczko in round three; the Berlin native had already made it through on Saturday after the nerve-wracking 3:2 over Englishman Dave Chisnall (No. 21). Former semi-finalist Gabriel Clemens on Monday afternoon against the Dutchman Wessel Nijman and debutant Arno Merk on Tuesday afternoon against two-time world champion Peter Wright also still have a chance of making it to the next round.
