Good day! Welcome to our live blog this Sunday. We will of course keep you informed of developments in the FC Volendam and AZ matches. There is plenty of other regional top sport. You don’t miss anything in our live blog.
Past: FC Volendam – Sparta Rotterdam 0-1
Past: Fortuna Sittard – AZ 4-3
We conclude the last live blog of 2025 with the responses from AZ and FC Volendam. Thanks for following along this Sunday and throughout the year. Happy holidays from the entire editorial staff of NH Sport and see you in 2026!
It’s bizarre, but it’s true. AZ is not allowed to take a penalty after a foul on Troy Parrott. The VAR calls referee Marc Nagtegaal to the side and deems it not a penalty. What a bizarre end to 2025.
Due to Spartan Tobias Lauritsen’s penalty kick, the 2025 football year for Volendam ends with a defeat.
It is unbelievable, but AZ already conceded the fourth goal of the evening. Philip Brittijn plunges the people of Alkmaar into deep mourning.
Tobias Lauritsen stands behind the ball and hits the target. There is a justified deficit for FC Volendam, but it is sad.
Robert Mühren will get just under ten minutes of playing time in 2025 for Ozan Kökcü.
From a corner the ball ends up at the far post and Gibson Yah goes in like a lumberjack. Referee Jeroen Manschot does not hesitate for a moment and points to the spot.
It’s the same again for AZ in Sittard! Troy Parrott’s first attempt is saved, but Mees de Wit slides the rebound into the goal. It’s 3-3!
Ro-Zangelo Daal, Elijah Dijkstra and Dave Kwakman can still substitute for the Alkmaarders. Wouter Goes goes to the side with a lot of commotion.
These are dramatic minutes for AZ. Fortuna takes the lead again through Kaj Sierhuis: he scores his second goal of the evening and hurts AZ.
Weslley Patati is knocked down in the penalty area. The VAR has to check for a very long time, but gives a penalty. Sven Mijnans stands behind the ball and cannot score. AZ and penalties remain a lousy combination.
The ball is rolling again in Volendam and Sittard! At FC Volendam there is a change. Precious Ugwu makes an appearance for Déron Payne.
The first half is over in Volendam. The local FC is still holding up well against Sparta going into half time.
We are also ready in Sittard. Four goals have already been scored there in the first half.
AZ scores the second goal. It was calculated via Kaj Sierhuis (Jisp) 2-2 in Sittard.
That’s where Volendam is dangerous for the first time. Henk Veerman is given plenty of room to take a shot and shoots at goalkeeper Joël Drommel. So far it has mainly been Sparta that has been doing the talking.
There is AZ’s lead! Less than two minutes after the equalizer, Sven Mijnans scored the second goal for the Alkmaarders.
It is the same in Sittard. Troy Parrott scores AZ’s equalizer. It’s 1-1.
The ball comes from a cross by Mitchell van Bergen. He shoots the ball full at Kayne van Oevelen, who was allowed to start again in the starting line-up.
Fortuna takes the lead against AZ. Justin Lonwijk heads in from close range. Tough one for the Alkmaarders…
We started in Volendam and Sittard!
“I have of course spoken to Joey about the situation, but I am not going to give him advice. He is no longer a 17 or 18-year-old boy. It is his career. I do not know at all what considerations he makes, I cannot put myself in Joey’s shoes. He will talk about it well with his girlfriend and his agent. It is completely up to him.”
The 27-year-old Veerman saw a transfer to Brentford fail last summer. The Volendammer would now have a clause in his contract for which amount he can leave. That transfer fee would be above 20 million euros. According to many Turkish media, Fenerbahçe wants to meet that transfer fee.
