Astrid Holleeder has been out of the picture at RTL Tonight for a while and according to ‘the sister of’ this has to do with a number of ‘obstacles’. The big question is: does the viewer actually miss her? “No, just stay away!”

Together with Albert Verlinde, she would pretty much have to carry the program: Astrid Holleeder was announced as one of the mainstays of the failed RTL Tonight. After that American bombastic one face reveal and some interviews about her brother Willem Holleeder, it soon became clear that she was simply inadequate as a legal expert on TV.

Obstacles

Astrid likes to talk about her emotional life, but when it becomes ‘too technical’ she shuts down completely. She is not very popular; the men of Today Inside call her a ‘salt bag with blow-dried hair’. All in all, she is hardly ever seen at the RTL Tonight desk these days.

Now she finally gives an explanation for the radio silence. “I am proud to be part of the RTL Tonight team,” she writes Instagram. “You may have noticed that I have been less present lately, but that is because some obstacles have been presented to me that I had to overcome.”

Any disadvantage

Astrid does not want to say what ‘obstacles’ these are. “But that shouldn’t spoil the fun, because as Cruijff says: every disadvantage has an advantage: and the advantage is that it has given me the time to properly study how I can best do my job. Because believe me, television is a profession in itself.”

In other words: apparently Astrid has had some communication training. “In the meantime, the obstacles have been resolved and I can go full throttle again in the new year. I can’t wait to see you again at Tonight. 💪🥳”

“Just stay away!”

How do RTL Tonight viewers feel about this? Are they looking forward to that again? 💪🥳 Um, no… The responses to NU.nl are truly devastating. “You wouldn’t wish that on anyone, what she has been through. But her presence on TV has no added value at all,” sneers a certain Stephan.

You can really tell from Astrid that she has no added value other than her well-known surname, he thinks. “Without her surname, no one would really want her. Without her surname, her book would never have been so successful. It is only because of her brother’s criminal activities!”

Not qualified

Joost also thinks that Miljuschka Witzenhausen’s mother does not have enough TV talent. “I didn’t really miss her. For me, she is an example of someone who was hired ‘by name’. An example of someone who was put in a position that she was not qualified for or had experience in prior to that job, but because her name is Holleeder.”

And Sjonke: “Astrid is a strong woman. I have a lot of respect for her. However, she is not a TV personality. She was announced as a major addition to RTL Tonight, but she adds little to that program except the biggest announcement. Although that is partly due to RTL Tonight, of course.”

“Don’t come back!”

It’s really sad for Astrid how destructive the viewer is. And not just a few, but the lion’s share. Another: “She now has time to calmly consider how she will do things differently on TV, she says. If I may give a tip: be honest with yourself and take the viewer seriously. So don’t come back.”

Heinrich concludes: “Obstacles? Strange excuse for failing as a talk show participant. She will probably receive a media course in the meantime. Because what she showed on TV was an outright mockery and that of course did not go unnoticed by RTL.”
