The English darts professional Stephen Bunting made it into the third round without any problems. After his victory he suddenly becomes emotional.
Stephen Bunting reacted emotionally at a press conference after his entry into the third round of the Darts World Championship and interrupted it shortly afterwards. The 40-year-old spoke about his fans’ support as well as negative comments on social media before he could no longer hold back his tears.
At the mandatory press conference of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), Bunting explained before the emotional outburst: “My run-in was extraordinary. My fans supported me in every leg, they always had my back, that’s so important for a person who is up there.” The Englishman described the stage as a lonely place. “If things don’t go well, you can look to your family, your management and your sponsors. But it’s up to you.”
Shortly afterwards he announced that he was getting “a bit emotional” and paused his statement. Tears ran down his cheeks. Bunting talked about, among other things, negative comments on social media. They could have been the reason why he cried. After a short break, he answered the remaining questions as if nothing had happened.
