VfB Stuttgart has apparently secured its first reinforcements in the winter. According to “Bild”, the Swabians are bringing in center forward Jeremy Arévalo from Racing Santander for the second half of the season in order to ease the personnel situation on the offensive. The 20-year-old’s commitment from the Spanish second division is about to be completed. At the beginning of November, “Sky” first reported on Stuttgart’s interest in Arévalo.

Eintracht Frankfurt was also interested in the Ecuadorian, the pay-TV channel said at the time. AS Roma and Udinese Calcio from Italy as well as Spanish clubs are also said to be in the running internationally. The “Bild” now also named RC Strasbourg Alsace as a competitor.
VfB will draw the exit clause in the attacker’s contract, which, according to several media outlets, should be 7 million euros. In addition, a high signing bonus could be due. The amount involved was not yet known. Arévalo has been training in Santander for several years and has been a member of the professional squad since 2023, for which he has appeared 39 times so far, scoring eight goals and providing two assists.

Newcastle’s William Osula, among others, was also on the VfB list, but the 22-year-old prefers a move to Frankfurt. The Dane is set to move to SGE in January on loan including a purchase option, provided Magpies officials release him, Sky recently reported. That’s why Stuttgart’s choice fell on Arévalo.
TM expert explains strengths of VfB transfer target Arévalo
“Arévalo is not the classic striker. He tends to let himself fall a little or moves to the wings in order to exploit his great strengths: speed and dribbling. The youngster looks for the finish and occasionally overlooks his teammates, but impresses with his shooting accuracy – and especially with his strong left foot,” explained TM editor and Ecuador expert Benedikt Duda. “In the last two years, he was only used as a talent as a joker, and he also had to switch to other positions at times. For example, at the U20 South American Championship, where he was used in the midfield center for Ecuador, but was not able to show off his strengths there. However, his goal rate was significantly better as a striker in the Racing Santander youth team. Now that coach José Alberto López has appointed him there as well, he is also repaying the trust in LaLiga2.” The youngster made his national team debut for La Tri on November 14th.
