This is the preliminary draw for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar:
GROUP A: Qatar
GROUP B: England
GROUP C: Argentina
GROUP D: France
GROUP E: Spain
GROUP F: Belgium
GROUP G: Brazil
GROUP H: Portugal
During the draw, the Netherlands will be linked to a country team from pot 1, pot 3 and pot 4. Pot 1 contains the strongest teams and Qatar. National coach Louis van Gaal, who is not present in Doha because of a positive PCR test, does not rule out the possibility that he is so lucky that the Orange squad will loot the host country. “I often have luck hanging on my pants,” he said.
Brazil, Belgium, France, Argentina, England, Spain and Portugal are the other countries in pot 1. Senegal, Iran, Japan, Morocco, Serbia, Poland, South Korea and Tunisia are in pot 3. Pot 4 consists of Cameroon, Canada , Ecuador, Saudi Arabia, Ghana, the eventual winner of the last European ‘final path’ (Wales, Ukraine or Scotland), the winner of the play-off between New Zealand and Costa Rica, and the winner of the play-off between Peru and the United Arab Emirates or Australia.
After today, Louis van Gaal and the Orange squad can specifically prepare for the three opponents in the group stage.
