The Flame returned to Sicily after 65 years and the national team spiker, Coca Cola torchbearer, born and raised in Palermo, was among the protagonists of the trip

The journey of the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic Flame continues in Sicily and today it stopped in Catania, 65 years after its last passage, on the occasion of the 1960 Rome Games. Among the protagonists of the day, there was Myriam Sylla, Coca Cola torchbearer, born and raised in Palermo. The spiker, star of the national team, with whom she won, among other things, gold at the World Cup last September and Olympic gold at the Paris Games, this season is busy in Turkey, with Galatasaray: “Carrying the flame was almost as exciting as entering the field for a final – she said -. And being chosen as a torchbearer by Coca Cola, for the values of inclusion, excellence and determination that we share, is an enormous honour. Today I ran with the same spirit with which I play every match: giving everything, representing my team and remembering that, just like in sport, every goal is built one step and one point at a time.”
