The enclosure, which was built in 1929, has not been the home of the lions for some time. They have had a new home since 2023. Since then, the old residence, which is a national monument, has been restored, expanded and redecorated. So for the lemurs. Two species live in Artis: ring-tailed lemurs and red lemurs.
The Kerber Terrace, as the old lion enclosure is officially called, is now part of a larger area for the lemurs. The entire enclosure now has two outdoor areas and three indoor areas, one of which is behind the scenes. Lemurs can reach the enclosures via walkways.
