A football player Ethan McLeod has died in a car accident.
According to Sky Sports, 21-year-old McLeod died on Tuesday evening when the car he was driving went off the road for an unknown reason and hit a metal fence on the M1.
– Despite the best efforts of the bystanders and rescue authorities, a 20-year-old man was found dead at the scene of the accident, the police release says.
McLeod, who represented Macclesfield, was returning home after the match. He played in the National League North at the fifth highest league level.
Macclesfield released the sad news of their player’s death on social media on Wednesday afternoon.
– With heavy hearts and disbelieving thoughts, we have to tell our team’s 21-year-old striker by Ethan McLeod deceased. On his way back from Bedford Town last night he was involved in a car accident in which he tragically lost his life.
The death of a Wolves player in the Premier League has shocked the British football world deeply. Wolves also released their condolences for the death of their former player.
– Our thoughts are with Ethan’s family, friends and all the people of Macclesfield.
The club also tells of McLeod’s younger brother By Conor McLeod to be part of the team’s under-21 team. The club says it will take care of his well-being in difficult times.
Wolves also say they will honor McLeod’s memory with a minute’s silence at the team’s next game against Brentford.
