FC Bayern Munich buys the Unterhaching sports park.

FC Bayern Munich and the municipality of Unterhaching have sealed the stadium purchase. In the future, the Munich footballers will also play in the sports park in Haching alongside the regional league team SpVgg Unterhaching.

There have already been signs of this step in the past few weeksnow it has been completed: Allianz Arena München Stadion GmbH, which belongs to the Bundesliga soccer club FC Bayern Munich, has secured the Unterhaching sports park, which is home to the local gaming association and where the American football team Munich Ravens also plays. The purchase agreement comes into force on January 1, 2026.

Dreesen speaks of a “milestone” for FC Bayern Women

In addition to the SpVgg, FC Bayern’s footballers will also be playing in the stadium, which opened in 1992. In a non-public meeting last week, the Haching local council is said to have already unanimously approved the sale. There was a notary appointment on Tuesday in which the sale was sealed. The purchase price is said to be around 7.25 million euros. Manfred Schwabl, the president of the Münchner Vorstädter, sees a solution “that only brings benefits for all parties and that marks another milestone in our partnership relationship.” The CEO of FC Bayern, Jan-Christian Dreesen, spoke of a “milestone for the entire development of our FC Bayern women”.

SpVgg Unterhaching opted out First access right

The SpVgg previously had initial access to the stadium until June 30th – but let this deadline pass. “We’re in the 3rd league, regional league. That’s not bad, but it’s always economically difficult and always a fight for survival,” Schwabl recently explained in an exclusive interview with BR24Sport.

The game association’s fan scene fears disadvantages as a result of the sale and protested against the plans to put the stadium in the hands of FC Bayern (external link). “There couldn’t be a better partner on the lessor side,” says Schwabl. Due to the good relationship, the former FCB player expects a fair cooperation.

From 2026/2027: Unterhaching will be the new home for FC Bayern Frauen

After “appropriate infrastructural adjustments,” the Unterhaching sports park will become the new home of FC Bayern Frauen, the record champions announced. Not only the games but also the training operations should be based there in the future. “From the 2026/2027 season, FC Bayern Women’s home games in the Champion League will be played there.

In recent years, the FC Bayern women have played on their own campus in the north of Munich – and again and again at the Allianz Arena, such as the 3-2 win against Arsenal London in the Champions League in November. In the long term, however, the stadium with 2,500 spectators on campus is too small for the needs of the club – and also the women’s Bundesliga and the Champions League. However, the arena would have become too big in the long run.

FC Bayern Women could continue for Highlight games at Allianz Arena

The Hachinger Sports Park is intended to remedy this with its capacity of around 15,000 spectators, which is more in line with the number of women than the other two stadiums. “Of course it will be nice for us if more fans can be there in the future,” said FCB right-back Giulia Gwinn last Sunday on “Blickpunkt Sport” on BR television.

Highlight games could still take place in the Allianz Arena. The Munich-based company has been working with SpVgg Unterhaching, their new tenant, for years. The two clubs have a partnership in the youth sector.
