In addition to the world footballer, the world coach of the year was also named in Qatar. The award went to a Champions League winner.

The choice fell on him: Luis Enrique was named World Coach of the Year by FIFA. The Paris Saint-Germain coach was presented with the award on Tuesday evening in Qatar’s capital Doha. Former national coach Hansi Flick, who was also nominated, again came away empty-handed.

Enrique won the Champions League with PSG in May and reached the final of the Club World Cup. The 55-year-old also won the Coupe de France with Paris and won the French league.

Flick, in turn, revived FC Barcelona and won the championship with furious football. In the Champions League last season, however, the Catalans were already over in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Sarina Wiegman was voted the best trainer. It was her fifth award of this kind after 2017, 2020, 2022 and 2023. The Dutchwoman won her third European Championship title with England in the summer. She had already been successful with the “Lionesses” in 2022. In 2017 she won the European Championships with the Netherlands.
