After long consultations, the Nerazzurri winger underwent surgery on his ankle tendons. The name of Norton-Cuffy comes up, in addition to the low-cost option Valincic and Idrissa Touré of Pisa
Ultimately, Denzel Dumfries decided to have surgery on his left ankle. This morning, at the Fortius Clinic in London, the Nerazzurri winger underwent surgery to definitively resolve the tendon problem in his left ankle which has been keeping him away from the pitch for more than a month. Recovery times will inevitably have to be updated, even if to date they cannot yet be precisely quantified. He will certainly have to miss out for at least 2-3 months, or a good part of the season. A serious injury, which has a negative impact on Inter, who will have to give up their right winger for a long time to come. Thus the Nerazzurri club is forced to dive back into the market for the month of January. And, in the meantime, it has narrowed down the list of candidates to invest in in a few weeks.
the names
—
Today, the most realistic options for the Nerazzurri winter transfer market lead to three names. The first is that of Norton-Cuffy from Genoa, followed closely just last Sunday during the Ferraris away match. The second instead leads to a low-cost novelty, more affordable in terms of price than the English rossoblù but certainly less ready for use. And it’s Moris Valincic of Dinamo Zagreb. The third name is Idrissa Touré of Pisa. Pros and cons: Norton-Cuffy broke the ice with Serie A some time ago, he is proving to be up to the task of the Italian championship and indeed he is one of the great surprises. The problem, in his case, leads to the price tag: the Genoa management rejected a proposal worth a dozen million from Naples, but the competition remains thick between the Azzurri and Juventus.
The feeling is that Genoa could settle for 15-20 million for a full Oaktree-style profile. Young, futuristic, “a bomb ready to explode” as Daniele De Rossi defined him. On the other hand there is Valincic who would certainly cost a third (if not less) than Norton-Cuffy but would need a lot more time than the Englishman to adapt to a context very different from the Croatian championship. Touré del Pisa represents the middle ground – at least in terms of price – between Norton and Valincic. At the bottom, but far behind, remains the name of Marco Palestra. In his case the negotiation would be much more complex due to a series of factors. Cagliari does not intend to end the profitable loan early, Atalanta would like to keep him at least for next season, and above all dealing with the Percassi family will certainly not be easy. Inter, meanwhile, are studying their future without Dumfries. At least for a while. And then who knows what will happen in the summer.
