In his room in Nieuw Unicum everything revolved around Ajax. “On his door there was a large photo of him in the Arena. The wheels of his wheelchair had the club logo on it. He knew everything about Ajax. He even drove from Zandvoort in his wheelchair to the Olympic Stadium to see the club play. But he was also a fan of darts, Formula 1 and enjoyed going to the theater,” says Paul.

Martijn Rademaker, who also lives in Nieuw Unicum and is a big fan of Ajax, mourns the death of his friend. “I’m so sorry. He was really a die-hard fan. Even more fanatical than I am.”

They often talked about their club. “But you shouldn’t say anything wrong, because then he could react very strongly. Always straight to the point, but in a funny way. He also really liked cabaret. A top guy,” says Martijn.
