De Lang was appointed as chief scout in 2023 by former technical director Sven Mislintat. Before that he worked at HFC Haarlem and Manchester City. He temporarily took on the role of technical director at the end of 2023, when Mislintat was fired and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar was at home with a burnout.
Recent developments
According to De Telegraaf, De Lang would not feel heard when recruiting players. Ajax does not want to confirm this. He himself says: “Due to recent developments, I have decided to consider the next step.”
Football director Marijn Beuker has also responded to his departure. “It is a shame for us that Kelvin is leaving. We have enjoyed working with him,” he said. “I am sure that he can continue his career well at another great club. We wish him every success in that.”
De Lang still had a contract with the Amsterdam club until 2027.
