After a half year break
Painful setback: national player is out for weeks

Tim Kleindienst missed almost the entire first half of the season. He actually wanted to play again, but now he has to accept the next setback.
National striker Tim Kleindienst has had to undergo another knee operation and will be out for several weeks. The 30-year-old has to take another break. Kleindienst had been missing since the end of the previous season but celebrated his comeback at the end of November.
But the goalscorer shouldn’t have to watch for too long. Sports director Rouven Schröder explained: “It’s bitter for Tim and bitter for Borussia, but after such a long-term injury like Tim’s, you unfortunately have to expect things like this.” Kleindienst, who extended his contract until 2029 in November, had hoped to be able to play “a half or 60 minutes again at the beginning of January, mid-January”. These plans must now be postponed.
There was speculation that Kleindienst could be out until the end of the season, but the club denied this. Schröder was optimistic: “Tim has worked his way through rehab in an exemplary manner over the last few months and will do the same this time. I am sure that we will see him back on the pitch in the foreseeable future.”
