In the doping case involving professional soccer player Mario Vušković, the HSV doctors come into focus. According to NDR/BR research, the player initially suspected the team doctors of having injected him with EPO without his knowledge. However, Vušković then moved away from this as the doping proceedings continued and did not take action against the HSV doctors. Why? Was the reason for this a deal with HSV to continue giving him a contract despite the doping ban? About a year ago, an ARD research team received a tip from a source who wished to remain anonymous. It’s about the Mario Vušković doping case. According to the source, Mario Vušković had strong suspicions that someone close to him had injected him with EPO without his knowledge, as part of a treatment with supposedly harmless vitamin injections. The ARD team begins extensive research, exclusive interviews with the head of the doping control laboratory in Kreischa, where Vušković tested positive; with an expert who monitored the B sample in the laboratory on behalf of the Vušković family; with the head of the national anti-doping agency NADA; with the lawyer who represented Mario Vušković before the CAS International Sports Court and with a Norwegian scientist from whom Mario Vušković sought help at an early stage.
