US singer Mariah Carey will perform at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
The organizers announced this 53 days before the show. “The American superstar will be one of the main acts on February 6, 2026 at the Olympic Stadium in San Siro and will enrich the opening evening with an unforgettable performance,” the statement said.
The 56-year-old Carey recently reached the top of the German music charts again with her Christmas hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You”. In doing so, she set a record. According to GfK Entertainment, the US singer’s popular song was at number one on the hit list for the 22nd week, more often than any other song in Germany. Carey’s Christmas song also ranks first in the current top 10 in the USA.

“Known worldwide for her distinctive voice and musical legacy that spans generations and cultures, Mariah Carey perfectly embodies the emotional spirit of the Games,” said Olympic organizers.
Music and sport would create an opening ceremony in which harmony would become an expression of collective energy. It is a symbolic space in which communities come together, overcome borders and see themselves as part of the vibrant dynamic of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. “Mariah Carey’s participation underscores the international importance of the ceremony and its messages,” organizers said.
